On 9-13th April 2024, Bauhaus4Med Project was a part of the New European Bauhaus Festival 2024!
Project Partner, IFLA Europe, promoted the thematic goals and the main purpose of the project with their representatives participating in a variety of initiatives during the NEB Festival.
Didier Vancutsem, IFLA Europe Vice President for Professional Practice, participated at a panel discussion on 11th April, accompanied with industry experts, – as representative of Bauhaus4Med Project and IFLA Europe – he elaborate the crowd on three main objectives:
- Urban Health & Well-Being: prepare our cities and urban open spaces for climate adaptation by transforming urban fabric into climate resilient and urban sponge places
- Urban security & Environmental Justice: develop multifunctional and accessible open spaces where no one is left behind – no Barriers (Global Urban Agenda / Sustainable Development Goals 2030)
- Greening Cities: implement green infrastructure and increase green coverage and canopy with the 3-30-300 rule.
Also, On 18 April, IFLA Europe organised a satellite NEB Festival event within Bauhaus4Med project activities entitled ‘‘Re-envisionning European Landscapes”.

About NEB Festival:
The Festival of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) took place on 9-13 April in Parc du Cinquantenaire and the Arts and History Museum in Brussels. It braugh together people from all walks of life to debate and shape a sustainable, inclusive, and innovative future.
This year, the Festival explored topics such as shelter and living environments, land and water, fashion and human wellbeing in light of the changing environment. Everyone was invited to watch the Festival online, attend events across Europe and beyond, or take part in main events happening in Brussels such us
- Forum: featuring keynotes and panel discussions
- Fair: with workshops, labs, and exhibitions
- Fest: showcasing artistic performances
The Festival also featured the award ceremony of New European Bauhaus Prizes, rewarding 20 projects, designs, and ideas that embody the NEB values.
